How To Be Good

Just finished reading How To Be Good by Nick Hornby. Another enjoyable and easy to read book by the author. Does make you ask questions which I suppose is one of the reasons for the book.
– What makes a good person?
– is it their job, their personal life
– do you need to make a difference in the world or on a smaller scale?
And so on.
Everybody will see it differently and it is as much to do with what you can live with as how other people perceive you.

A Long Way Down

blog

For the past two weekends I have written myself to do lists and each weekend has been finish book on it. Both weekends I have managed to tick those.

Took me a week to read this as don’t have a huge amount time to read otherwise wouldn’t have taken as long. Enjoy Nick Hornby as an author, I’m sure his sense of humour isn’t for everyone but I get it.

The book is about 4 people who separately go at the same time to the same location to kill themselves: Jess, JJ, Martin and Maureen. For all four characters you have moments that you like them and other times that you are like ‘come on what are you doing / thinking’ . Though not about the happiest of subjects there are some funny moments through out the book.

If you have read Nick Hornby’s other books then this is a must or even if you haven’t and fancy something a bit different from your normal then go for it.
