Happy New Year everyone! Hope we all saw the year in style, whatever your style is.
Our New Year was spent at the Clachaig Inn, Glencoe and for both of us was one of the best New Years that we have had.
Spent a lot of our time in the Boots Bar and just loved the atmosphere and feel of the place. Was full of like minded people; it didn’t matter what you wore, most people where in outdoor gear, which I have to say I loved since it is what I wear most of the time, a lot of the time people coming straight off the hills. It was very laid back and people just in there to have a good time. Wearing a t-shirt and scruffy trousers for New Year was fine ( didn’t quite wear that but close). It was the sort of pub that wearing something from Hollister stood out a mile.
Met a group of people in the pub who we saw the New Year in with, a lot of them stay in Aberdeen ( small world) Hopefully meet up with in Aberdeen, always good to make new friends.
Weather wasn’t great to say the least while we were there so didn’t get out as much as would have hoped but still stunning scenery. Both of us want to go back one for New Year again and also to the area at another time of year.
Did I make any New Year Resolutions? Yes of course I did. Still going with my theme of Activity ( https://thatkitchendrawer.wordpress.com/2013/12/21/activity/ ) but also got some resolutions for myself and also Kat and I have wedding ones.
The ones for me are:
- Get into Mountain Biking
- Do more outdoor stuff – will fit in well with training for Ben Nevis and wanting to do more munros
- If needs doing then do it
- Go to an outdoor area and do outdoors – In 2013 went to Aviemore and Glen Coe but didn’t really do that much outdoors stuff. Want that to change
- Go abroad with Kat
- Meet up with old and new friends
Aiming to go to the gym at least once a week which is going to begin from tomorrow, sure not the only person thinking that everything begins tomorrow however hopefully by blogging about it will help with the motivation to keep going. Got a few other things to keep me going as well: Ben Nevis challenge, working at the Commonwealth games, my wedding in 2015.
Let’s see what 2014 brings!
